At Zovida Health Centres in Rotterdam, the workload at the reception desk has noticeably decreased since the introduction of the Wachtkamerschermen® registration system. At Health Centre Oosterflank, part of the Zovida network, the number of patients reporting to the front desk dropped by 30 to 40% within a short period.

“It used to be very busy,” says Usha Orie, Care Manager at Zovida. “We wanted every patient to check in at the desk, but that created long queues. I thought, surely there must be a better way? That’s how I came into contact with Wachtkamerschermen®.”

Integration with Medicom brings calm and clarity

The registration kiosk at Health Centre Oosterflank — like those at other Zovida locations — is linked to Medicom from PharmaPartners. As a result, each registration is immediately visible in the agenda, and patients are automatically directed to the correct waiting area. This brings calm and structure to the practice.

“It took some getting used to for our patients,” Usha explains. “At first, we had someone assist at the registration kiosk. We also switched to a different keyboard for entering the date of birth. These small changes worked well. We now see that patients go straight to the registration kiosk on their own.”

A valuable learning process with strong results

The main benefit experienced at Health Centre Oosterflank is the significant reduction in front desk pressure. According to Usha, 30 to 40% fewer patients now approach the reception. The success at Oosterflank has inspired other Zovida locations to start using the registration system as well.

Radha Chedi, Practice Manager at Health Centre Katendrecht, shares her experience: “I had heard very positive stories from my colleagues about the registration kiosk, so I wanted to try it too. By now, it has become an essential part of our practice — we wouldn’t want to be without it. We’ve clearly noticed that the reception is less busy, and that’s a great relief!”

Usha adds: “It’s been an educational process where we’ve helped each other improve the system. At another health centre, I saw that you can also create buttons for the physiotherapist, dietitian or nurse practitioners. That allows even more patients to register via the kiosk, further reducing the number at the desk.”
